Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Medical Nail Technician?

A Medical Nail Technician (MNT) is a licensed nail care professional who has received advanced training in foot and nail care for clients with health conditions such as diabetes, fungal infections, ingrown toenails, and other foot-related concerns. Unlike traditional nail technicians who focus on cosmetic services, a Medical Nail Technician bridges the gap between cosmetic nail care and medical foot care.

MNTs are trained to:

  • Recognize signs of medical conditions affecting the feet and nails

  • Perform non-invasive foot care services in a safe, hygienic manner

  • Provide relief from painful conditions like ingrown toenails, thickened nails, and corns

  • Understand infection control and aseptic techniques

  • Work in collaboration with podiatrists, doctors, or refer clients when needed

Please note: Medical Nail Technicians do not diagnose or perform surgery but play a critical role in preventative care and maintenance of healthy feet, especially for high-risk individuals.

Do you offer regular pedicures or polish?

No. I focus on non-cosmetic, medical-grade nail care. My services are designed for health and comfort—not for polish or spa treatments.

Do you trim thick or fungal toenails?

Yes. I offer safe trimming and thinning of thick, fungal, or damaged toenails to reduce discomfort and improve foot hygiene.

Can you help with ingrown toenails?

Yes. I offer gentle, non-surgical relief for painful ingrown toenails, as long as there is no active infection or open wound.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is required. However, if you have a serious infection or other health concerns, I may recommend you see a podiatrist.

Do you accept insurance or Medicare?

No, I do not bill insurance or Medicare. All services are private pay at this time.

How do I prepare for my appointment?
  • Please arrive with clean feet if possible.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting shoes.

  • Bring a list of any medications or health concerns.

  • For new clients, a brief intake form will be required.

Is it safe for people with diabetes?

Yes! I am specially trained to work with diabetic clients. My tools and techniques prioritize your safety, comfort, and hygiene.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call or use the online booking link on the website. If you need help, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to assist!

What’s the difference between a medical pedicure and a regular pedicure?

A medical pedicure—sometimes called a dry or waterless pedicure—offers all the benefits of a traditional pedicure without the foot soak. Instead of using water, we use advanced tools like an electric file (e-file) to gently and hygienically remove calluses and dead skin. This approach is ideal for those with health concerns, offering a safer, more precise way to care for your feet.

Are your tools sanitized?

Absolutely. All tools are disinfected and sterilized to medical-grade standards after every client, following strict infection control protocols.

How often should I schedule an appointment?

Most clients benefit from foot care every 6–8 weeks, especially if they have diabetes, poor circulation, or thickened nails. Regular maintenance helps prevent discomfort and complications.

Do you cut fingernails too?

Yes, I offer fingernail trimming for those who may have difficulty doing it themselves, including seniors and individuals with limited mobility.

What if I have a wound or foot infection?

If you have an open wound, severe swelling, or signs of infection, I may refer you to a podiatrist first. I provide non-invasive care only, and your safety is my priority.
